Bandar Sg Long

The main road leading out of BMC is open after the fracas and exit of Sg Long is smooth
day and night. The pipe laying by some sub contractor have resulted in uneven surface
of road at the exit of SL as they have yet to complete their work. Will update on their work progress.
Some illegal dumping and burning of rubbish next to Tmn Iklas /Budiman have resulted in dreadful smell at night, looking forward for the local council/JAS to solve this issue.
The police station is functional and the crime index is down since Feb 08.
I am sure there are more issues that can be highlighted by residents to be discuss and
finding solutions.

ADUN Dusun Tua YB Tuan Ismail Bin Sani

I’m very concerned about the State Government’s decision to degazette some
parts of the forest reserves and allow the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road (KLORR), also known as
the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE), to cut through these forest reserves and the Selangor
State Park.

These forests have very useful and important functions as water catchments. They also reduce
chances of floods happening and prevent landslides. The Ampang and Ulu Gombak Forest
Reserves, which will be affected by the proposed highway, are important water catchment forests
for major areas in the Klang Valley. Having a highway cut through the forests will reduce the
forests’ function as a water catchment, and its ability to provide flood mitigation and erosion control
even if preventive measures are in place to reduce the effects of the highway.

Economically, it seems counter-intuitive to permanently damage perfectly good forests that are
able to provide these functions at little to no cost and subsequently, needing to allocate funds (in
the future) to correct the effects of the damage. Also, having a highway cut through the park will
fragment the park permanently while affecting natural movement of wildlife in the area.

Specifically, I am writing to ask you, as our elected representative and the ADUN of Dusun Tua, what you are doing about the KLORR which will cut through the Selangor State Park and affect our catchment area?

Please do not allow a dangerous trend to be set by allowing a highway to cut across the Selangor State Park - a natural treasure and pride of Selangor. It is not worth the risk. Let us leave our
beautiful forests intact for us and our future generations.

Yours sincerely
